You're bustin' my God damn chops, Midna, you know that?
Charles and I were talking Zelda earlier this weekend. He was basically wailing on Twlight Princess because he thinks it's too easy. While I hadn't played that much of it, I felt compelled to defend it, based largely on its Zelda cred alone. "Even if it's easy, it's still a good game. It's good, Charles. It's good."
Now that I've finished the first temple and found all of the fucking light bug things in Kakariko Village, I'm starting to find that I'm not really enjoying the game, certainly not to the extent of Wind Waker or Ocarina of Time. The game starts off with an arduous, lengthy introduction, and when you finally get to the Forest Temple, it's not very much fun. From a design standpoint, the dungeon seemed confusing and frustrating to navigate. Those spinning bridges? Even after getting the boomerang those were annoying. Rooms that branched out all over the place and looked rather similar? Fuck that shit. Then you finally move onto Kakariko and have to do another one of those shitty fetch quests as the wolf, gathering light from bugs that hide in nooks and crannies. When you finally get them all, you get to escort some children back to the first village, Ordon. Exhilarating. People hated on Star Fox Adventures for this fetch quest garbage, but I honestly enjoyed that game more than I'm liking Twilight Princess so far.
So far. There is no doubt in my mind that the game will end up kicking ass and being awesome. Why? Because Twlight Princess has been getting astounding reviews. Because it's fucking Zelda. Because it's fucking Nintendo. But Jesus, the first several hours have been tedious.
Tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this way.
Edit: Okay, that whole giant boar attack sequence was pretty fuckin' BA.
Edit 2: Of course, no sooner did I make this post than did things actually begin to get significantly more interesting and fun with the game. The wolf fetch quests still eat asshole, and the intro was still long and a bit dull, but it is picking up.

I feel like I switched up Twilight Princess and FFXII. You guys all think that XII is amazing, but you find Zelda tedious at parts, even if you want to play it all the way through.
It's the opposite for me. Zelda was so addicting and I couldn't put it down, but I find XII frustrating and honestly, not that fun. Not that it's a bad game in any way, but it's definitely not as enjoyable for me to play it as for you guys.
